Back in 2019, Microsoft surpassed a market cap of $1 trillion. People all over the world know this tech company’s name, and most of our software comes from this giant.

For instance, the computer you’re using right now probably uses some iteration of Microsoft Office. And nowadays, there’s also something called Office 365.

What is Office 365? And how can you take advantage of it? Read on to find out the answer to these questions, as well as some tips for Office 365!

What Is Office 365?

As of 2017, Office 365 has actually become Microsoft 365 for consumers and small businesses. However, for the purposes of this article, we’ll keep referring to it as Office 365.

Office 365 is a suite of subscription services offered by Microsoft. These are hosted on cloud servers so you can access your files from any device.

What’s included with Office 365? You’ll get:

  • Office apps (such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • 1 terabyte of OneDrive cloud storage

You’ll be able to install Office 365 across all your devices, from your computer to your smartphones. Also, you’ll get exclusive updates and upgrades!

Office 365 Cost

The cost of Office 365 depends on if you already had a subscription prior to Office 365 becoming Microsoft 365. For instance, in April 21, 2020, all Office 365 subscriptions became Microsoft 365 subscriptions at no additional charge.

Personal accounts cost just $6.99 a month and Family accounts cost $9.99 a month per person (up to 6). You can save some money by opting for annual accounts, which cost $69.99 and $99.99 respectively.

If you want to use Office 365 for business purposes, you can choose from 3 plans on a monthly basis:

  • Basic: $5.00 per user
  • Standard: $12.50 per user
  • Premium: $20.00 per user

You can also choose to just get the Microsoft 365 apps at $8.25 per user, per month.

How to Use Office 365

You might have a bunch of files from other programs that you want to migrate to Office 365, but don’t know how to. In that case, you should pay for migration services, as the pros will help you do it in a flash.

Once you’re set up, make sure you take a look at the shortcuts available for each of the Office 365 programs. Each shortcut might not seem like much, but when you’re using these programs often, these shortcuts can not only save you some time, but also help you avoid repetitive workplace injuries.

Also, each account allows you to sync your data to 5 devices. Make sure you take advantage of this! This means you can connect your computer, laptop, smartphone, and tablet so you can access your data from anywhere, and from any device.
